At Al Zain, we believe that the essence of Arabian heritage is best expressed through collaboration. One of the contributors to this collaborative initiative is the talented local artist Fajr Basri. Known for intricately hand painting pottery that are crafted by local artisans, Fajr has hand painted a magical series of pots, “Sands of Deco”, that draw inspiration from Arab Deco, Al Zain’s iconic high jewellery collection. Through this visual choreography of colors and elements, Fajr tells a unique story that reflects both heritage and modernity.

SANDS OF DECO
Sands of Deco is a series of handcrafted clay pots by visual artist Fajr Basri, bringing Al Zain’s Arab deco theme to life through a fusion of tradition and contemporary art. Each pot is meticulously shaped by local artisans and then transformed by Fajr’s distinct artistic touch, showcasing her deep appreciation for Arab deco motifs. Her work captures the elegance and intricacy of Arab design, featuring bold geometric patterns, floral arabesques, and rhythmic lines, all meticulously hand-painted.
Fajr has developed a carefully curated color palette that emphasizes earth tones, deep blues, and touches of vibrant hues to echo the timeless beauty of Arab heritage. The addition of gold finishes elevates each piece, adding a subtle but striking brilliance reminiscent of traditional gilded decor. Through this visual choreography of colors and elements, each pot tells a unique story that reflects both heritage and modernity.
The result is a collection that feels both grounded in cultural tradition and innovatively reimagined for today. This series of clay pots goes beyond functional art; it serves as a celebration of Arab aesthetic heritage, evoking a sense of timeless elegance and cultural pride in every intricate detail.
