GENERAL JEWELLERY
CARE GUIDE
HEAT / WATER
To preserve and ensure longevity of stone security in terms of adhesive (glue), avoid jewellery from getting wet. Glue is reactive and not permanent, meaning bonds will degrade in an environment with heat and humidity.
CHEMICALS
Prevent stone jewellery from coming into contactwith household chemicals, including perfumes, hairspray, cosmetics and lotions. Stones in particularare susceptible to damage after exposure to chemicals.
RESPONSIBLE WEARING
Avoid rigorous physical activity while wearing sensitive stones. Always protect stone jewellery from encountering hard and abrasive surfaces which can cause gemstones to chip or erode and cause metal to scratch. Avoid wearing jewellery to swimming pools, as chlorine could corrode gold since it is reactive to the copper alloy in gold. Avoid wearing jewellery to beaches as sand can create scratches on jewellery surfaces. Avoid long exposure to sunlight as this can effect the stone colour.
SAFE STORAE
Store jewellery correctly to ensure it remains in excellent condition for years to come by storing each jewellery piece individually. Store stone jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations. Use a protective Al Zain pouch for storage to prevent stones from scraping against each other, and to keep chains from tangling.
GENTLE HANDLING
When putting on rings and other jewellery with gem stones, never pull or place pressure directly on the stones themselves. This can loosen the fastenings which can quickly lead to lost stones. Instead, ensure you're pushing rings on by holding the band only. When fastening bracelets, make sure any stones are facing up and without pressure from your arm or other surfaces.
ROUTINE CARE
It is recommended that jewellery should be brought every 6 months to 1 year to Al Zain jewellery for our “Free for Life” services. We will provide you a professional clean and polish, check the integrity of the setting for stone security, check stones and metal for wear or breakage, as well as re-apply rhodium if necessary.
CLEANING
Avoid using ultra sonic cleaners and gently clean jewellery using a soft cloth or soft toothbrush with a small amount of dishwashing fluid and washing detergent diluted in warm water.
